October 30, 2024

SOUTH POTTER’S CREEK CONSERVATION AREA CLOSED NOVEMBER 4th – 8th FOR UPGRADES AND MAINTENANCE

Picture Perfect Landscaping Quinte Ltd. has made a substantial donation to the services needed for upgrades and maintenance work to be completed at South Potter’s Creek Conservation Area the week of November 4th - 8th. During the maintenance period, the area will be closed to the public. The closure will be posted on site, as well as on Quinte Conservation’s website.

Once the area is re-opened, visitors will notice trail improvements through general trail maintenance, removal of hazard trees, and the leveling and re-screening of graveled paths. The parking lot will receive grading, and the existing weakened cedar retaining walls will be replaced with armour stone.

South Potter’s Creek Conservation Area offers a paved loop trail along the Bay of Quinte as well as graveled trails throughout a small, wooded area. The area includes many features like picnic tables and benches, pollinator meadow, wildlife thicket, and birdfeeders. The home is area to a variety of species including songbirds, Osprey, and turtles. Outside of maintenance work, the area is open 7 days a week, from 6 am to 8 pm. Leashed dogs are always welcome, and visitors must practice leave no trace principles. Parking fees support initiatives like this project as well as general maintenance like grass cutting, and snow plowing.
