PLENTY TO DISCOVER AT VANDERWATER CONSERVATION AREA

Thomasburg, Ont. – Join Quinte Conservation for a day of exploration, fun, and learning at Discovery Day at Vanderwater on Thursday, August 15 from 10 am to 2 pm. This free family-friendly event offers a wonderful opportunity for all ages to connect with nature through a variety of engaging activities.

“Discovery Day at Vanderwater promises interactive experiences for attendees, making it a perfect outing for families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone looking to learn more about our local environment,” says Lindsay Nash, Outreach and Stewardship Coordinator for Quinte Conservation.

Event Highlights:

  • See magnificent birds of prey up close and learn about their important role in our ecosystem with FalconEd.
  • Get to know the fascinating reptiles that call Ontario home and understand their significance in the environment with Sciensational Sssnakes!!.
  • Enjoy a delightful performance that combines music, storytelling, and puppetry with the Paddling Puppeteer.
  • Join an Indigenous Knowledge Sharing circle around a campfire. While roasting marshmallows and apples, gain insights into traditional knowledge and cultural practices.
  • Participate in hands-on activities and create your own nature-inspired crafts.
  • Enjoy a delicious meal and refreshments while you explore the day's activities courtesy of the Madoc Lions Club.
  • Browse a curated selection of Quinte Conservation, Take A Hike and Depot Lakes Campground merchandise, including apparel, tick keys, blankets, water bottles and more for purchase.
