Watershed Watch

Precipitation distribution often varies within a region due to a variety of factors, and local variations may not always be observed by weather radar or satellite. To address the gap in precipitation monitoring, Quinte Conservation has created the Watershed Watch Program to supplement precipitation data through using daily observations made by volunteers.

About CoCoRaHS

The CoCoRaHS platform is utilized by the Watershed Watch Program for submission of volunteer observations. CoCoRaHS is the acronym for the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow network. It is an international non-profit, community-based system of volunteers who work together to measure and map precipitation. The data provided by Watershed Watch volunteers to CoCoRaHS will be utilized for informing various stakeholders about the amount of water and its current dynamics in our local system.

Watershed Watch volunteers submit their precipitation measurements directly to CoCoRaHS, providing weather updates for our local area.
