January 20 - QUINTE CONSERVATION HOSTING TWO FREE TREE PLANTING WORKSHOPS
Quinte Conservation is hosting two free tree planting workshops this winter, one in Belleville and one in Roblin. Stewardship Coordinator Alana Bancroft says participants will learn how to care for and plant tree seedlings. Bancroft adds, "Trees improve the beauty and value of property, and enhance the environment by providing wildlife habitat, preventing erosion, improving the air we breathe and reducing the threat of flooding."
WORKSHOP DETAILS Date: February 10, 2010 Time: 6:30 pm - 8:30pm Location: Quinte Conservation office, 2061 Old Highway 2 (corner of Wallbridge Loyalist Road), Belleville
The tree planting workshops are part of Quinte Conservation's annual tree seedling program. Quinte Conservation is now taking orders for tree and shrub seedlings for planting in the spring. Any landowner within the Quinte Conservation watersheds may order trees. There is no minimum acreage requirement; however, the minimum order is 100 trees.
To order seedlings, you can contact
at Quinte Conservation at 613-968-3434 or by printing off an order form. Trees must be picked-up by the customer in early May. The trees are bare root stock and must be planted soon after they are picked up.
Each spring thousands of trees are planted in our region through Quinte Conservation. Quinte Conservation is a community based environmental protection agency that serves 18 municipalities in the watersheds of the Moira, Napanee and Salmon Rivers and Prince Edward County. It provides cost effective environmental expertise and leadership that develops and delivers programs to ensure the healthy coexistence between the community, the environment and its economy.
