June 25, 2015: Colebrook Dam Open House

Colebrook Dam

A public information open house will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 to discuss structural repairs to be made to the Colebrook Dam. The project will repair cracks in the concrete, add new piers, and ensure the Colebrook Dam meets Dam Safety Guidelines.

The project is a cooperative effort between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, Stone Mills Township, and Quinte Conservation.

The format will be informal and you are invited to drop in anytime between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Information boards will be on display and representatives from Quinte Conservation will be available to answer questions and provide information.

LOCATION: Yarker Fire Station, 9 Mill Street, Yarker, ON K0K 3N0

TIME: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

This dam is on the Napanee River in the Hamlet of Colebrook, in the Township Stone Mills. It can be accessed via County Rd No 1, north from Hamlet of Yarker to Colebrook. It was originally constructed in 1836 to provide water power for a saw and gristmill. It now serves as a local recreational attraction providing swimming, boating and limited fishing opportunities.
